New Country House

Project description

Our design proposes a new residential complex of buildings to function as contemporary extension to a listed farmhouse.

Contemporary and pre-dated co-exist without mimicking each other, allowing contrast to highlight the old in relation to the new architecture.

New dimensional relations are based on the pre-existing proportions and materials are a re-interpretation of local and vernacular construction.

The country-house is a serene retreat for the art collector: living rooms are adaptable to become gallery spaces and extruded windows project onto the landscape with the intention to frame it.
